It’s sad to think of a 9 year old being burdened with gloomy thoughts about the progression of the Planet over time: from a sunny flowered hillside to gray urban traffic and pollution. This drawing describes it with such clarity. We want kids to be aware of the need to improve the environment – not with fear, but with the hope they can do something about it.
My memories are of a carefree creative childhood – removed from big worldwide concerns. Sometimes I settled into a high branch of a tree, and wondered how I would fit into the world. I don’t think the possibility of big national disasters ever crossed my innocent mind.
